The Tesla Powerwall
The Tesla Powerwall lithium battery system is helping to revolutionise residential battery storage. There have been three generations of the Powerwall, the first hitting the market around 6 years ago. The Powerwall 2 released in 2016, improved on the original with double storage capacity and an integrated charger. The Powerwall+ has the similar features of the Powerwall 2, but with an in-built inverter.
Quick market comparison
The Powerwall battery will store up to 13.5 kWh energy generated from your solar panels, detect any outages and automatically becomes your home’s energy source when the grid goes down. With the sleek and minimalist design that Tesla is known for, the Powerwall is compact and can be mounted indoors or outdoors.
Product cost
It’s no surprise that the Powerwall sits towards the higher price tier, much like other Tesla products. With the Powerwall costing around $11,000, however the Powerwall 1 is more competitively priced.
